The Souper Bowl Of Caring
Every year, the Super Bowl is watched by millions of people worldwide. Years ago, a community in South Carolina had the idea of transforming this huge event into an opportunity to help the less fortunate. The winter is a tough time of year for pantries, and with hunger on the rise, what better time to hold a food collection? That’s how the Souper Bowl of Caring was born. This year we've decided to join the fun and have a CUMAC Souper Bowl!
How does it work?
The CUMAC Souper Bowl is a three-week collection challenge open to anyone! The competition starts on Wednesday, January 18 and runs through Wednesday, February 8. Registration is now open (see below). Once your group is signed up, you will be assigned to one of two teams and you can start collecting! Groups have until February 8 to get their collection to CUMAC.
Remember: Pick-ups must be scheduled in advance and Souper Bowl collections received after February 8th cannot count toward your team's point total.
The winner will be determined by points scored. Teams can score points for every donation made. $1 = 1 point and 1 can of food = 1 point. Be sure to mention the Souper Bowl (and your team name) when food is being dropped off or picked up. Final scores are tallied and announced the week after the Super Bowl. The team with the most points after the contest period will be the Souper Bowl Champion. The best part? There are no losers! All collections will benefit those struggling with hunger in our community so every donation makes a difference. Help us tackle hunger this month and join the fun!
